Tumalo Falls - Bend, Oregon

Tumalo Falls
Tumalo Falls

2006

Tumalo Falls is an easily accessible site just 14 miles West of Bend, Oregon. The falls drop 90 feet and are easily observed from observation points maintained by the Forest Service. The Tumalo Falls parking lot is a fee area and a Northwest Forest Pass is required. Day passes are available on-site for five dollars.

The North Fork Trail starts at the Falls and follows Tumalo Creek deeper into the mountains. Several smaller falls can be seen on the trail in the first couple miles of your hike. Mountain biking is allowed on the trail, but this is a directional, up only trail. North Fork Trail intersects a network of trails a few miles up and allows return to Tumalo falls via alternate routes. A trail map of the area is recommended if you plan on a loop ride.

Tumalo Falls and the North Fork Trail can be busy, especially on weekends. However, it is a beautiful area and is worth the easy trip from Bend.

Getting There
Go West on Galveston Ave until it exits town and turns into Skyliner Drive. Follow Skyliner approximately 12 miles until it ends at a bridge over Tumalo Creek. After crossing the bridge, take a left on the dirt road. Follow the road for 2.5 miles and it will end at the Tumalo Falls parking lot.

Mosquito repellent is recommended!
