It was interesting that the "5th wheel" in the unit that I saw had an actual wheel and tire as part of the coupling. I forget most of the details, but do recall that rotation for turning occurred about the spindle that the "5th wheel" was mounted on. The way that it was attached would allow the tire to absorb any tow rig to trailer NVH.
