I am new to my FWC and have a 2015 Hawk pulled in my F250. It is not my daily driver and I have a shop where I can park my truck raise camper top and store inside. The situation is I can see myself wanting to offload camper to use truck bed to help kids move or for many other reasons ;)

I know I could store just on the support legs. My question is... the dealer had supports built for under the displays so you could actually enter them.

1. Does the system require supports to enter the camper while stored?

2. If required I'd like to build something to support it but could be put away when not used. My dealer has closed so I can't ask what he used. It looked like Plywood cut to make like an "X"? I would like to do this. I know not rocket science but does anyone have any tips to make it safe , functional and easy?

THANKS!

XJ, there are several threads on building a platform for the campers. Many are boxes, some 'X' shaped, some with casters. FWC recommended to me to have support if going into the camper when off the truck. I use saw horses and a sheet of plywood.

There are several threads on the topic. I'll see if I an find some...

I just built a 2x6 frame with casters. I can move it around the garage, and the floor is fully supported so I can work on the inside mods with no worries. In the summer it just leans up against the outside garage wall.

I keep it on jacks and support the floor with two saw horses with two 8' 4x4's running length of the floor and four 4' 4x4's spaced evenly across the width ( think ladder).  It all gets put away and stacked when the camper is in the truck.

I built a dolly but it just took up room when the camper was in the truck most of the time.

Roger,

I store mine outside. I have plywood X's and a full sheet of 3/4" 4' x 8' sheet on top of the X's that the camper sits on. The X's are 3/4" plywood. They are 4' wide and 2' tall, with a 3/4" wide cut that is 1' (half way through the 2' dimension). I keep the legs down to wedge the angle metal that I use to secure the tarp. The camper is fully supported and you can get inside to do what every you need to do. I will try to find a photo. jd

Here is my stored camper. Note the angle metal under the  leg ply wood.  The angle is 6" vertical and 12" horizontal.  There are punch holes to secure the tarp with bungee.   jd

Roger, I only have to raise the camper 10"+/- to get it above the truck bed. It is very solid. By the way all the plywood is treated. Jd
