Spooky Meadow is a cool name.  I'm curious, do you know how it came to be called that?

We haven't been to that Devil's Post Pile area for many years. Just going to have to get back there.

Thanks for the report.

Great to see an odd couple from Iowa can get around the Sierra's better than the locals.  Fence campground west of Sonora Pass off Clark Fork was empty that weekend and we had a nice stay.  Hiked south of Sonora Pass on the PCT with very few people around and great views.  Then we climbed Sonora Peak the next day and we were all alone.  Second year in a row day hiking the east side of the Sierra's trying to finish before you  :P.  Currently, the BLM campground Horton Creek is mostly empty just north of Bishop.

We planned to hike Agnew Pass two weeks after you but the Owens River Fire smoke sent us farther south.   This was the second year in a row a fire kept us out of June Lakes, last year Bloody Canyon Fire.  Spent the second weekend after labor day at Green Creek campground, almost completely empty, after finding a zoo at Twin Lakes campgrounds.

We hiked up to lower Pine Creek Lake today, a little north of Bishop.

We are covering some of the same ground as you this year:  We were at Lolo Pass a few weeks before you and Sawtooth Lake a few weeks after you.  We traveled the area from Helena, MT, south while your path looks more northerly starting in CA.

Mr. Groovy, we don't know the origins of the name. It is a cool name and perhaps a little research is in order. :)
