There is a large plastic 'bulb' under the sink drain inside the cabinet that the drain hose connects to and then routes outside of the Hawk....what is the function of this item and if it is a filter, how is it detached and cleaned?

Thanks,

Phil

Hi Phil,

That bulb is a catch basin, sort of like a pea trap under the kitchen sink at home., it also provides a structure for the sink side strainer to to screw into, and seal to, before narrowing to exit through the drain hose to the outside.

Thanks I will look up that trap and see how it is detached and cleaned.....not obvious in my Hawk.

No idea what the "sink side strainer" is in the Hawk; will also research that.

Looking at Camco's site and on Amazon it appears that the inside of the trap is threaded and screws into the Hawk's sink drain...has anyone unscrewed this trap to clean it?  Any subsequent leaks?

Still not a clue what the 'sink side strainer' is; will keep looking..

Sorry Phil, by sink side strainer, I was referring to your sink drain (should have worded it more correctly), looking at it directly in the sink, and the plug you put in that can also serve as a strainer, if not tightened to stop water. It screws into that bulb drain catch underneath the sink, from above. Hope that makes more sense.

Bro,

Yes, that makes sense and thanks yet again.  We used vinegar and baking soda to remove odor from the trap on our recent 18 day prowl around Escalante Basin....I would like to remove it for a scrubing but damn sure don't want to induce a leak....

Take Care,

Phil
