I went to my local Toyota dealer today and he told me the Tundras are do out in Feb......the only problem they have a new 4 dr called the crewmax but the bed is only 5.5 ft in lenght.

The doublecab will have a short and a long bed. the double cab is almost 1 ft shorter than the crewmax........what were they thinking?

I often wonder the same thing. Probably the same thing they were thinking when they used such an unusual and non-standard bed depth.

Doesn't anybody make just a standard old two pickup anymore? Everything is extra cab or crew cab. I realize that people want to be able to pack the family in their truck for a drive or fill it up with stuff, but that's why I'd have the camper on back. I was hoping the Tundra might have a standard 4X4 cab available...Not...

I saw it at the L.A. Auto Show. I thought the 4X4 was 2WD. Its so close to the ground it could be a Chevy. Its also supposed to have a big dif but it didnt look any bigger than my old T-100. Based on the specs at the show it still is basically a F150 in towing and carrying capacity only smaller (bed) and a lot more money.

The regular cab 07 tundra has a capacity of 1700lbs in the short bed and 2000 lbs in the long bed. It has a towing capacity of over 10,000 pounds with the 5.7 liter engine. The bed lengths are 78.7 inches and 97.6 inches.

There's still the issue of ground clearance. Its true you could do all the add ons to get it off the ground but by the time you're done you could have bought a Dodge 2500 with a live front axle and much more capacity.

If that's all the ground clearence you get with a new 4X4 Tundra, why bother? That will be a 4X4 "freeway" sport truck! Then load 'er up and see what she do...
