Damn you, craig333. Now I'm crying again.

"Gentlemen of the Jury: The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us, may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.

The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer. He will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.

If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death."

Forward Motion

Last week, I came back to Prescott, Arizona in order to take Pugsly to her vet. I got her ashes back on Wednesday and the little container will travel with us to our new town and my new jobby job in June. I decided it is logical to stay in here, where I have WiFi, in order to secure a home in my new town before I continue on this adventure. [  114 more words ]

Argos and I had enough of grieving and split Prescott last week and spent a healing 5 or 6(?) days at Saline Valley Hot Springs in Death Valley. We left yesterday and now I'm camped at Alabama Hills just outside of Lone Pine, Ca.

More later, typing on phone kinda sucks. :-)

There are no words to console you over the loss of Pugsly. Just know that you were blessed to have your beloved friend for so long. We share your loss and hope that your sadness will soon be replaced by all the happy memories that you shared. She was an amazing dog and the motivating factor I gravitated to your post. -Kelly

Saline Valley Warm Springs

I left Prescott, heartbroken. Weeks later now and I still am. I miss my little Pugsly. My scientific, logical mind knows that not only is my Pugsly not actually in this little wooden box, but the ashes in there are most likely a few different dogs all mixed up with hers. But my emotional mind cries, "I don't want her to be alone! [  245 more words ]

Thoughts of Home

Leaving Death Valley I came across a pair of coyotes. One was on the left, and the other on the right. They could not reach each other for the traffic, but eventually, the one on the left made it safely across. It’s so beautiful out here, but a big part of me just wants to go home. And then there are days where I just want to drive. [  174 more words ]

Hello Hoyden
Ever hear of this poem.

Home is Where the Heart Lies.

Home is where the heart lies,
though many a year divided it had been,
the lure of the bright lights,
to explore places, ne'er seen

For a time did satisfy
to a point, at best
still within the heart stirred
longing for that which brought rest

Rest from the wanderings
unknown, alienations
twas not hidden in far off lands
but in one's OWN NATION!

He called me from far across the sea
His loving call did plea
flew away on a wing and a prayer
"found" Love quite ostensibly!

Nestled amid the rolling Hills
the heart of my very youth
Found I, my place, my love, my life
The very essence of the Truth!

Home is where the heart lies
No more divided shall it be
Wherein Hilly Terrain, warmth untold
Be the final step, for me!
