We got to see our first Four Wheel Hawk last weekend in Edmonton and were impressed. Thanks Jason! We are in no rush, so if anyone hears of a 2012 or newer unit keep us in mind. I check this and other sites as often as I can. A well equipped camper with stove, fridge, sink, thermal pack is probably what we would be looking for, but would consider a newer shell as well. It seems like most people are happy with the Four wheel and ATC campers. We are hoping it will allow us some hassle free exploring without having to haul a bumper pull holiday trailer around.... but we will still keep the trailer for now.

Our current truck is a 2009 GMC 2500 with a 6'6" box that is 59" wide at the tailgate. This narrow tail gate may be an issue, I'm not sure. Take care and thanks d.

The pleasure was mine. I always have a positive experience with members of WTW that I meet. Good luck in your search. I know that we will all keep our eyes peeled for you.

Keep in touch.

Jason

I have my 2013 Hawk on a 2009 GMC Sierra.  My 2013 Hawk was made for a Ford.  The tailgate opening at the bottom is a little narrow because the tailgate opening is rounded in shape at the bottom portion.  The Hawk squished that portion of the opening a little.  I don't care in the least... it's a truck box.

I have the GMC brand rubber bed liner mat which is about a 1/2" thick.  If you want to keep your tailgate opening pristine, you may have to put about another 1/2" of plywood in the truck box to lift the camper a little bit higher.  No big deal.

BTW, Jason was kind enough to show me his Hawk prior to making my purchase.  Thanks once again Jason.  You are a true ambassador to the brand  :)   Soon enough we will have a large enough Alberta community to arrange a meet-up.

Thanks guys! Bill, good to hear the hawk fits on your 2009 GMC. Sounds like we are going to get some good spring camping weather this week...it's not guite like Baja weather but it will have to do!
