I cut mine off, no regrets. I slipped a thin piece of sheet metal with the edges taped behind them, and with a new razor blade cut them off. The metal backer was about 10" longer than the window to prevent any "extra" unwanted cutting on the vinyl walls. Way easier to fold the top up, and you can open and see out the windows without having to go outside with a ladder. The velcro strips pealed off the vinyl easily after being in the sun, a few were already pealing off on their own. There is a reason new campers do not have them.

The original liner (1991) had no outside flaps.  It leaked a little at the bottom corners in a rain storm.  The second liner had the outside flaps and was a a serious pain.  However, I made some triangular pieces with velcro that we used to hold up the outside flaps like an awning.  The newest liner has no outside flaps and a better inside sewing design.  It's clearly the best design of the three.  When your liner gives up the ghost, the new one will be better.

So I have a 2005 Eagle and rolling up the flaps every day is a huge pain.  I was curious if there's any real purpose to them?  I know the newer models don't have them so I was curious what the difference is and if I'd be screwing myself by removing them?

Hmm.i have an 05' Eagle, my flaps are inside and fold down.
This must be an option by the original owner.?

I think you're confused, this thread is about the flaps on the outside.

The flaps on the inside are not an option by the original owner.

The first flap on the inside is the same material as the soft sides which blocks light when up and allows light in when down, and the second one is the clear flap to open for air circulation or keep close, but, allow seeing outside and inside. Both of these are adjustable in the opening action... open all the way, open part way, open less, and open just a little. Just adjust the flap at the bottom and attach the velcro along the sides to be wherever you want.

We all have these.
