Made it out to the John Day River country as we had some gracious friends offering a beautiful camp location on their property. Couple of days of hikes and driving around gave us 2 prime choices for viewing the eclipse. We decided on an old fire lookout on top of Fields Peak in the Aldrich Mtns instead of the Aldrich Mtn lookout.
An east and west view just as totality occurred plus a crowd shot. Even though I had packed a pile of camera/lens/tripod up to the top of Fields Peak (1600' in about 2 miles) the light was changing so fast I never really had time to get the shot I had visualized. Oh well, maybe next time.
