For all you photogs who are hoping to catch some corona (not the liquid kind...) here is a great video which has good info and a follow up video (haven't got to that yet).

I am hoping for some good weather over Columbia Missouri! Got a prime spot thanks to a fellow WTW'er who has kindly offered refuge from the multitudes who will also be looking for some corona :) Get to play with puppies too!

Any advice for stacking filters for those who waited too long to buy a legit eclipse filter? ... besides "Don't".

I'm thinking a Lee Big blocker (10 stop) stacked along with a ND 16 or 32 might be safe and interesting.

Bombsight,

I think stacking to get to an ND16 which I believe is the safe # is probably okay but because you will not be removing UV and IR wavelengths I would suggest using live view only and limiting your exposure to a few minutes as damage might be done to your sensor over a longer period. This is if you are using a very long lens. Wider angle not as dangerous.

#14 welders glass is supposed to block IR and UV because some welding materials give off those wavelengths.

This is conjecture on my part based on what I have read. YMMV :)

Good luck!

Thanks Happjax. I had read something similar but you made it simple. Question is now, how long of an exposure is needed.
