It is a long way from anywhere but such a beautiful place. Spent a night on the river but heard rain on the roof of the Alaskan in the night and decided to escape while we could. It is 36 miles of dirt road that turns to gumbo with rain before you drop off over the cliff to the river. A long way but worth the drive if it is not raining. When we got to pavement we headed to a hot spring near Fields and spent a few relaxing days there. We will go back but our friends in the Sportmobile only have 2 wheel drive and I don't think they will join us there. She did an amazing job driving her Sport out of the canyon though. Here are a few pics.

Yes, we were caught at Succor Creek Campground by rain mid October. Beautiful evening; rainy night. We left due to camping by a creek in a canyon and miles of potentially gumbo road before 93 or is it 95? It is a gorgeous area for sure.

And, the hot springs is a great place to camp but not on weekends or holidays. Too many parties.

NIXFWC.

question; you went to three forks and did not mention the great hot springs up on the cliff

over looking the river one

of the great hot springs in the west.

When we lived in Idaho we would make at least 1 trip a year, even if it was wet and muddy.

Good times!

We arrived at Three Forks in the evening and were planning on hiking to the hot springs in the morning but when we heard rain that night we knew it was time to head out before we were stuck there for a week. Sorry to have missed the springs as the photos look pretty amazing. Hope to head back there next year.
