Not sure if anyone is still looking at this thread but here goes.

Just got back from there. Mexicalli down to San Felipe, tacos at Petes, had the beach to our selves.

Headed to Bay of LA, road from Puertecitos  down to turn off was sporty, Coco tried to steal my wife and dog, my buddy was pulling a 24ft bumper tow, the trailer was a pain but they made it to Bahia de Concepcion. Spent the night in santispac, not all that busy, the restaurant was fine and the folks there shared birthday cake.

Down to playa requeson, no problems, mulege had whatever we needed, people brought us seafood daily.

From there to Juncalito south of Lorretto, more to our liking, easy fun, quiet.

After a few days we had to split up, our friends went south, us north.

Road from Guerrero Negro to Catavina was in poor condition, just have to slow down. Catavina was cool though.

Spent the night at a lagoon in the salt flats, different but nice.

Road to San Quintin good, nice night in the dunes, lunch in Ensenada, easy drive up 3 to Tecate.

No issues finding fuel(diesel), people were awesome. Would go back tomorrow if the wife wouldn't kill me.

How long was your trip??

BBZ,

We were gone exactly 4 weeks, took our time sort of to get from western OR, down 395 towards El Centro.

Have been to Baja, but had not driven before, mix in our friends poor choice of camper and it did "limit" us a bit. We of course wanted a little bit more remote areas. Have heard that Agua Verde is amazing, lots of other places had to be skipped. Plus, some in our group wanted to spend a longer time in the Concepcion area at one spot. They had a daughter fly in, all of which was still fun, but next time will be different.

Might do a quick one in March, Tecate to the wine area.

Zero problems getting across with a 1 ton and truck camper.

Zero problems with fuel.

Zero problems with the great people of Baja.

Coco did want to keep my wife and dog, would have missed the dog. Kidding.

Will be working on my Spanish for sure.

If your worried, don't be.

Be smart, be prepared, be nice.

Thanks for the info.. I am not the least bit worried.. my spanish is ok, but from traveling pretty regularly, I know a smile and kindness go a long way..  We are prepared, and I like to think we are smart..

Safe travels, I'm heading to MT to work for a month or so. Still trying to get back down there in march.

Try to visit Aqua Verde,

They road down is actually fairly tame and the views are extrodinary....

There is a village of fishermen and goat famers at Puerto Aqua Verde and a small church and store...sand boat ramp or beach launching options if you brought canoes/kayaks.

There is a dedicated playa Libre or free beach camping area where locals welcome you and no one will be asking for "rent ."

The farther you are from major cities, the safer you are. The rural Mexicans are kind, hardworking and generous.
