ATC Cougar (8 ft. long, cabover) on my F150.  Started as a shell with furnace and cookstove.  At that time, weight was under 1000 lbs (9xx, I don't recall exactly).  I've added a bit but I'm sure it's still well under 1200 lbs.  Rides fine on the F150 without any suspension modifications (but this is one of the newer F150s with aluminum body, so larger payload).  I would talk to ATC and when you get one from them, try it on your truck and then decide whether you need to modify the truck.

My two cents.

My panther shell with nothing in it and no jacks weighs 634lbs. This is a shell with the only option being a fantastic fans and rear window. AEAF038D-CECD-4990-A165-E4042543A775.jpeg

Kind of a late answer on this post but I have a 2007 Tundra ( 1/2 ton ) and  in January of 2018 installed a used 1998 Sunlite 8 foot long on the 6 1/2 bed. With the weight of it sitting at 1300 lbs all I did was added a leaf spring kit and when my present Michelins die will go to an e rated tire. Had no issues with the Tundra/ Camper fully loaded on the many trips I did last year.

Hope you have figured it out in the mean while

Cheers

EM4 - I am looking at a Sunlite Eagle for my Tundra having a hard time finding information on it. Any chance you can post some pictures of yours, so I can compare.
