Notes from the Ranch ...

Dogs are allowed. We have a few dogs that live on the property. All we ask is that all dogs be with their owners at ALL times and on leash, and aggressive dogs be left at home. We have pigs, cows, horses, chickens, etc and doggy guests should not disturb these animals. There are also coyotes and mountain lions, which all dog owners should be aware of.

2018 Four Wheel Campers 6th Annual Nor Cal Rally & Campout

CAMPOUT & RALLY DETAILS FOR THIS WEEKEND

Location:  Bodega Bay, CA (Chanslor Ranch)  --  www.chanslor.com

Ranch Address:   2660 Highway 1, Bodega Bay, CA 94923

(We will put a “Rally Here” sign on Hwy 1 at the main entrance to the ranch).

Dates:  April 20th – 22nd, 2018

Check-In Time: Check in starts at 12:00pm noon on Friday April 20th.

Check-out Time: All campers must be checked out by 11:00am on Sunday morning April 22nd

The $ 125.00 sign-up fee includes your campsite for 2 nights, Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, Saturday dinner, and Sunday AM continental breakfast, and 1 T-shirt per person.

Important Note: If you have special food needs or food allergies, we would ask that you please bring what you need for yourself. We will be providing a wide variety of food a drink, but it will be basic items like meat, pastries, eggs, bacon, fruit, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, salads, sodas, bottled water, chips, coffee, etc. We will do our best to bring a wide variety of choices, but as we have found out in previous years, it is best to bring food for yourself if you have special food requirements.

Sign in will be at the registration table when you drive in. Jim Massopust, our famous FWC Ambassador, will be there to greet you. He will be the old guy with the clip board, surrounded by boxes of shirts, sitting in a chair.

Bring what you need to be comfortable camping. Items like warm weather clothes, cold weather clothes, rain gear, fill your camper water tank, make sure your propane tanks are full, charge up your camper battery, pre-cool your refrigerator ahead of time, pack your bedding supplies, and do some shopping on the way in if you have special food requirements. The closest grocery stores would be in Petaluma, Sebastopol, or Guerneville. The town of Bodega Bay is quite small, but does have a small road-side store open during the day for emergency supplies you might have forgotten.

Basic Itinerary:     Friday:

Check-in starts at 12:00pm noon (you can arrive any time after 12:00pm noon to check-in and secure your campsite). First come, first served for available campsites, although most of the camping is dispersed, so you will have many good places to choose from.

4pm – 5pm cocktails at the main gathering area.

5pm – 7pm FWC will serve a light Mexican dinner with drinks (self-serve taco bar).

7pm to when-ever, hang out at the fire pit or inside the barn (depending on the weather).

Saturday:

8:00am – 9:30am FWC will serve breakfast, coffee, juice, and fruit at the main gathering area.

9:30am – 2:00pm – Free time to explore the park, beach, or go for a hike on the 380 acre ranch.

(we might hold a camper walk-around Saturday morning if customers are interested in showing off their camper mods to others?)

2:00pm – 3:30pm FWC will host a “Question & Answer” session at the main gathering area.

4pm – 5 pm cocktails.

5pm – 7 pm Potluck Dinner (if you want, bring a small favorite dish or desert to share with others).

FWC will provide the main course (Spaghetti, French Bread, and Salad).

7pm to when-ever, hang out at the fire pit or in the barn (depending on the weather).

Sunday:

FWC will make a simple continental breakfast with fruit, pastries, juice, and coffee.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Most people will have breakfast, and head out in the morning on Sunday.

Check out will be around 11:00am on Sunday AM.

More Details About The Ranch  . . .

Chanslor Ranch is located in beautiful Bodega Bay, CA. The 400 acre Nature Preserve is located just north of the quaint fishing village of Bodega, situated on rolling hills, nestled against North Salmon Creek, overlooking breathtaking views of the Northern California ocean. Explore North Salmon Creek by kayak, join one of their guided nature walks, go on a horseback ride, bring your surfboard and ride some waves, shore fish, go for a hike or bike ride. The possibilities are endless. Although you probably won’t be able to do everything in just a couple short days, we’re sure you will find a few enjoyable things.

We're signed up to make that long, twisty, 20 mile drive over to the coast. Somehow it feels like I'm cheating when I'm going to the Nor Cal rally - The usual spot (Sugarloaf SP) is 20 miles in the other direction. In my defense, I did attend the So Cal rally at San Onofre :)

We'll be in our hybrid Hawk (She lost her stripes!), stop in and say Hi and grab a cold one . . . .

My wife Leslie and I are the setup crew and this year we had help from Sherry and Mike. We were super busy with 74 campers to get located. The food as usual was fantastic. Thanks to all. Some took horse rides. Walt galloped a horse for the first time in 50 years.  His wife Orla had a ride in a 30 year old Lotus "race-car".

Weather overall was great...though a little breezy...Especially Friday when it was blowing 40 mph !! Thank goodness all group eating and activities were in the big red barn. Big thanks goes out to "Katie" the Ranch manager for being easy to work with.

Sorry no pictures. We will get some I'm sure.

The rally was a great time for sure.  The folks at FWC were exceptional as usual.  The weather was phenomenal and hearing the roaring ocean at night before nodding off was a treat.  Is was so nice meeting the many other owners and hearing and telling great stories.  Not one time did I walk by someone where they did not say hello or good morning.  But my horseback ride into the back country of Chanslor Ranch was easily the best time I had.  I will be going back there again for sure.  Thanks so MUCH FWC.  WE NOT A GANG, WE A FAMILY.
