 hi

We stayed at what will be the NorCal FWC rally site this April. I thought I’d post a brief review. We reserved sites 2and 3 in the Olamentko group site. We had only 2 trucks but that was all that was available. ( we typically camp the “dispersed” style so having a group camp allowed us space/quiet.

The ranch is part of the HIP camp program https://www.hipcamp.com/

Which connects private landowners with campers. The camp spots are rather exposed ( although the group sites are in a ravine that allows some wind protection) which leads me to what to expect in Bodega Bay as far as weather is concerned.

It will likely be windy and cool in April. On our visit it was sunny and breezy Saturday, rained for about an hour sat night then windy and partly sunny on Sunday and Monday. I was real glad that sites on the hill with ocean views were NOT available. Those spot would have miserable as they are completely exposed.

Another issue is level sites. Seems not many are suitable for camper truck leveling - just be aware, it’s not a problem if you don’t mind or you have ingenuity to level up using rocks etc.

Hiking to the beach means crossing hiway 1 and trekking thru dunes or the state campground across from the ranch.

Overall it’s nice to camp in green grass for a change and have a town close by for browsing and foodie sampling. The coastline is of course beautiful with its powerful surf.

Gotta figure out how to post pics from my phone.
