Yes we did. Almost unthinkable, isn't it? We still had a pretty good time. We still had adventures. The story is now posted on our blog and can be found here -

Isn’t it nice to be able to miss the crowds, and give others a chance to get a spot out there. Did Cathy ever say what Amos told her?

Nice lay back trip with as few people around as possible.

I can appreciate the issue with making the turn onto the Hwy.

We have the same problem here.

On weekends it's almost impossible to make a left out of our

area onto Hwy 156. It becomes a parking lot most times.

We just adjust to it and stay around during those times.

Thanks for the nice trip.

It's nice to stay close to home once in a while.

Enjoyed your TR, thanks for taking us along to enjoy the beautiful scenery. :)

Did Cathy ever say what Amos told her?

Amos said, "I did notice you brought me organic carrots. They're my favorite!"

Thanks for sharing.  Sometimes it is best to stay close and avoid the crowds, looks like a great weekend.

We sure live in nice country don't we? Staying home on a holiday, especially for us retired folk, can be fun too :D !  No crowds, no fuss no energy wasted! Yep, almost to much effort there, that rock looked tooo big, but the mule was neat. Retirement requires some work ya know, but need to rest up for that next adventure!

What a great time and the opportunity to spend time out with friends and yet so close to home.

This year for us we experienced hundreds of our new closest friends while being in Yellowstone NP.

Addition - we gave our report to the mule group and yesterday the Lady went along on the work day and swamped for the sawers. They love to have that hard working woman along. And, they keep talking about needing to get her on a mule....................

Thank you for reporting trail conditions and blowdowns.  I volunteer with the Tahoe Rim Trail as a sawyer and crew leader.  We do very much appreciate any reports of down trees as we can get from users.  Sometimes I get my gal to swamp and do trail traffic control while I clear trees from the trail.

<<<sigh>>> I miss sailing. The 30 ft Catalina was sold after my dad died but that was not my favorite boat anyway. I spent many years sailing a 25 ft Buccaneer which could take just about anything the SF Bay could throw at you. Yes - my dad made me work for my passage.

I shoulda stayed home. My holiday weekend did not go well.

Thanks for sharing!
