Has anyone  attempted to run a Portable Ice Maker on Batteries?

I'm looking at some, I'm thinking this is going to fall into the realm of trying to run an A/C on batteries? Just not do-a-ble.

They all appear to pull about 2amps A/C. I'm thinking on an  inverter that's going to be pretty high? Maybe like 20 amps on a 12v system? They all appear to be able to run on a 300-400w Inverter without issue though. In the A/C world they don't seem to be too much of a power hog?

Thoughts?

I have an Engel 45 that I run in freezer mode in the camper.  Makes all the ice I need, plus keeps food frozen till I need it.

Well those are a little out of my price range right now.
So will continue to look at small appliance solutions.

Take a look at a Truck Fridge. They also have a good reputation with many of our members, and are less expensive than an Engel. The TB 31 is $400, which is about twice the price of a good portable ice maker, and far more versatile. You might find it’s close to a wash after getting a good inverter and what ever else is needed.

The TB 41 is on sale for $449.00.  Much larger than the TB 31.

Bob, I have the same Engel as you. To be truthful, I wish I would have gone smaller. I only use it in freezer mode, and the excess capacity is just used to make block ice for the boat ice chest. A smaller size would not take up so much spacewhen used in the Bobcat.
