That’s why I left the Bay Area for the Reno area. Unfortunately, too many people are following me.

I just found this and I am blown away....to think a few hundred years ago it was a natural paradise....

Reminds me of the SF novel "Caves of Steel"

Hey Rob,

Caves of steel?  Have to look for that on Kindle!

You are correct to be amazed by the rapid transformation of a continent.   The rate of change has yet to be appreciated, I'm afraid.

This is why getting out to see what we have now is so important.

Lighthawk... Caves of Steel.... the premise is a world where all the cities grew until they all touched.... then they slowly covered the cities of the planet within. A world covered. A cave of steel.

Sci Fi seems at time to hit it spot on. In some cases it is a sad foretelling.

When folks say we shouldn't 'save' pristine places .... we might just be making our cave .... that map sure is a

clear indicator we are headed in that direction.

Some times I feel like society is becoming a population of Moties (The Mote in God’s Eye - Larry Pornelle/Jerry Niven) and looking for the mythical Crazy Eddie.

One of my old favorites. Then again one day we might be able to discover a Ring World.
