A couple of random thoughts...

Get the factory skid plates. I believe it comes with the FX4 package as it is much cheaper to order it then to add it later.

Longer beds usually have a larger fuel tank which is a definite plus.

Get 18" tires if possible. The E rated tires have a 3750# rating and will carry your camper nicely.

If possible get the Camper package from the factory.

Enjoy the process!

FYI....each truck has a build sheet for what you ordered....be it 4x4 or a different engine or other features. From that, the VIN sticker reflects the changing weights for those features.

By the way, it has been noted that the Ford aluminum truck beds may require some additional bed mountings to spread the stress of any eyebolts you may drill in it to secure your camper that way if you intend on going off-road or spend a lot of time on rough, uneven tracts out there. Not a reason to take them off the list but a little more forethought into how you secure the camper is necessary.

I just bought a 2018 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 liter Cummins.  It's the Big Horn package, which came with a lot of items that weren't even available as an option on the lower trim level.  Things like the fold flat storage under the rear seats, a 115 volt outlet on the dash, etc.  The main items I had to have was a rear limited slip diff, auxiliary switched, and the offroad package.

This is my 3rd Dodge diesel and to date I've put over 240k miles on them and have never, not once, had an issue with the engine!!
