David,

Thanks for putting so much thought into this.

I do have a good spot to store it but it’s paved so digging out won’t be an option. I’m with you thinking about safety and stability while the camper is off the truck especially because there are kids at the house where I would be storing it. If I do take it off I want to be able to lower it to a safer storage position meaning incorporating bottle jacks or just keeping my eyes open for proper corner jacks. it’s not imperative that I remove it, public transport here is easy and affordable.

If you had access to a loading dock just a tad lower than the current height of your rig...

1) you had four jacks to lift the camper

2) had access to a forklift

3) you could put a 3/4" sheet of plywood on the forks (you'd need the fork extensions that would get to the front of the camper or close to it!)

4) jack up the camper, drive the forklift & plywood under the camper

5) pull the camper back onto the loading dock and set it and the plywood on a few 4x4s

6) when you are ready to go, use the forklift again and just keep the plywood in there until you get home and have access to your jacks

Lots of ifs and buts however leaving a camper up in the air on some Mickey Mouse set of jacks is a recipe for disaster. In my scenario, you only lift it enough to pull it out and set it on the loading dock.

Probably not an easy set up to arrange, but it would work. Its amazing how some cash money will pave the way sometimes!
