Has anybody mounted a CO on a flatbed? There us so much wasted space in the box with these campers, I thought a flatbed would really maximize the usable space.
If I remember correctly, somebody mentioned that the bed on a flat bed is higher than a stock bed. I already have to lift the camper to clear the cab so a little bit higher isn't a big deal, but I certainly wouldn't want the camper way up in the air either. I've seen a few mounted on utility boxes which look real nice but I would imagine sourcing a flatbed and outfitting it with boxes would be easier much less expensive than finding a utility box that would fit. I have the 10' CO that really needs support on those last two feet. With a 10' flatbed (or possibly a standard 9' plus a removable 1' support), I would probably modify the tub on the last two feet to bump out the full width of the camper. My rear wall is in bad need of being replaced so thought that would be a good way to make better use of the space while I'm in there anyways. I kicked around the idea of building a whole new tub to fit the footprint of the flatbed, similar to the way they are building some of the new ones but it seems like a lot of effort for a small amount of additional interior space.
Any wisdom that could be shared would be appreciated!
