We spent the weekend out there, it is absolutely gorgeous but I think we are still weeks away from any sort of peak. We plan to return a couple more times as its not very far for us.

Going to the Carrizo Plain Tuesday 4-9-19. Not sure if we will stay one or two nights. Thinking about coming back up 101 and taking Arroyo Seco & Carmel Valley road over to the coast. Has anyone stayed at Arroyo Seco Campground?

Stayed there about 50 years ago.
It's a "party" area for the locals from Greenfield/Soledad.
Although the blocked off road up the gorge is a great easy walk, great views.
When I lived in Soledad I would drive up into the area weekly but that's when the
road was still open. The road all the way through used to end at Hunter Liggett rd
at the San Antonio Mission.
Great ride but it was closed many years ago due to landslides.
There is a campground at the mission end called The Indians Memorial CG I think that's
the name.Don't know if it's still open.
If it is it's easy to get to,just past the Mission headed north on the Arroyo Seco rd.
You enter from the Fort Hunter Liggett area.

Bill I searched that camp. It's called Memorial Park CG has 8 sites and you can make a reservation.
You can also make reservations for the Arroyo Seco camp but it's a very heavy usage.
The Memorial site is primitive and in a beautiful area near the San Antonio river.
Enjoy
