...and thick soles. I have no idea where I got these, but I’m glad I wasn’t barefoot. The top one is 3/4”, and they were all buried up to the blunt end. Maybe Hawthorne?

Mean looking things!
Why I shy away from sneaker style hiking boots with soft soles when venturing out in the forest or heather. A heavier boot with dense soles are a plus for encounters such as yours Steve!

If those are Hawthorne, that is a guaranteed infection from the part that breaks off in your flesh. I’ve eliminated all I find on my place & my in-laws place but the birds insist on decorating the fence lines with new plants. Terrible plant to brush against.
