I recently purchased a 8.5 CO and had 3 sets of the Yakima false gutter installed, they give me the option of 3 bars for a boat rack, basket or any of the Yakima accessories, yet the roof is free if I don't need them. Bryan prefers the false gutters to the track because it requires fewer holes in the roof to install. Good luck with the new camper!

you can see my boat rack in gallery pics on a 10' cabover. It comes in handy for all sorts of things including my rear awning support for rain cover. I too have a telescopic ladder for getting up there. If you launch a boat, you need a rubber padded T-BAR support that mounts to your rear trailer hitch so the boat has a pivot point to push against when parallel to the ground and getting lifted up 90 degrees.
