IMGP0037

Came across this structure while hiking up a side canyon off Butler Wash this past weekend goring towards Comb Ridge.  The front opening is maybe 1'x1' or thereabouts and the overall structure size is maybe 30"Wx48"Lx18"H.  Obviously above an intermittent stream in an area that is now grazed by cows.  Didn't see any ruins up this particular set of canyons but had found some in a smaller canyon to the south the previous day.

So I ask the intelligence of the collective what this might be?

Maybe a gear stash built by cowboys?

That would make sense though it wouldn't be particularly rodent proof.

The ends of the logs look pretty cleanly cut. Could be an indication of age.

They were definitely pretty cleanly cut.
