I have ten days without the Misses May 27 - June 5 and was thinking of a road trip to White Pocket or even the South East corner of Oregon.

I have been to White Pocket 3 times before and if there was some other photographers that would like to visit this place with me I would not mind having you travel to this photogenic landscape wonderland.

Or if you are heading out to a awesome photogenic location and wanted to share the adventure.

For White Pocket it would take me two days to get there leaving me 6 days to explore the scenery.

The Misses says the previous image is from Cottonwood Cove, South Coyote Buttes...   (further review shows she is right...again. SHEESH! )

Thinking about White Pocket over Memorial Day, watching the weather and not making a decision until the day before.  If you head down early that could influence the decision.

Cayuse I have re-cert for cross cut saw on 25 and 26 and won't be able to leave until Monday the 27th.  So can't leave earlier.

 

Sunman thanks for the link for the book.  There is a current 6th version and added it to my cart.  I don't have this book but have other books and maps, should compliment our sources.

 

Ski, thanks for the kind words.... who knows where I might end up.  I was going to ask Sage to photo guide south east Oregon, but he is selling his rig.

Well I drove away from home on Monday and 10 hours later was in Kanab Utah. Tuesday morning arrived at the BLM office in kanab. It was drizzling rain and there were about 100 people that wanted 10 spots for the wave permit. Interesting to watch and listen to people. Some people just want a permit and really don't know or expect it takes to get there, especially on a muddy, slick clay road.

But I was there for the second lottery drawing for South Coyote Buttes. Much better odds. I was drawn and today photographed the morning until light was harsh. Got puffy clouds that could give rain later, but will go out for last few hours of light.

Tomorrow will be heading Over to White Pocket for a while June 4 or sooner.

Really surprised to have one to two bars of Verizon.
