Hi All,

I have a 83 Grandby that I've had for a little over two years. Currently gutted it and in the fun(?) process of building out the interior.

I've had it in my 1994 Chevy 2500 but according to the FWC fit guide it shouldn't fit in that truck. Anyone have the dimensions for an 83 Grandby that hasn't been modified? Looking to see if mine has undergone some modifications in it's previous life.

Thanks!

My 89/90 Grandby will only fit up to an 07 Chevrolet since the width at the opening for the tailgate is just shy of 60 inches. If I remember correctly after 07 they made the opening just a few inches smaller which would require an inches or two fix. Even though I wanted to keep a Chevrolet I found an 06 Ford F150 with low mileage and in great condition that would suffice instead of the retrofit of the camper. Eventually I will return to the Chevrolet but for now I am happy.

My 88' Grandby was 64" wide.  My current 92' Grandby is more like 60" wide.  If I had to guess I'd say your 83' started out at 64" as well.

Hmm.... The width of my 83 at the base is 58". Looking at it more it does look like some modifications have been made to the floor pack but it's hard to tell what they did.

Just thinking that a new (to me) truck is the next step and trying to figure out what trucks and what years I'd be looking at.

I have a 1979 Grandby and had to narrow mine to 57"'s to load comfortably in my 2016 Silverado. I'd have to think your's was previously modified to fit newer trucks. At the lower tailgate opening, my Silverado has a radius that would interfere if the camper was 58 "'s wide, unless you laid some 2X's down for the camper to sit on.
