Just ordered our 12v TruckFridge, super excited! What have you done for wiring them in. I hear not great things about the cig plugs which they come with, so I'm looking at options. Thanks for your thoughts and experiences!

Based on previous info I read on these forums I cut the cigarette plug off and hard wired the power cord on my TF. This eliminates possible current fluctuations powering your TruckFridge. I'm sure other folks can give you a technical explanation for it.

Hey Ronin, Thanks for you input. We don't want to hard wire, as we may use the fridge in other ways. So I'm hoping to get some ideas on a better plug system. Have you had good luck with your TruckFridge?
And looks like we're neighbors, hi from GV!

Just about any polarized plug will work as long as you remember to tell people not to plug it into a socket just because it 'fits'.
An Anderson connector would probably make the most sense as it's used for DC.

TruckFridge has been great. I usually have to re-adjust the temp setting once or twice on a trip depending on the ambient temps. You may want to look at Powerwerx/Anderson connectors as Roverjohn has suggested. Yes to being neighbors - I'm 10 miles south of town off Dog Bar Road!

As always, really helpful advise, thanks All! I've gone ahead and ordered a second plug and will hard wire it. What kind of monitor are you using to keep an eye on the temp? I'm thinking of putting a reflextix cover together, but would be interested on the cover you found on amazon, Dphillip.

It was actually on EBay that I found the cover. Here are a couple of options.

There is a digital meter on top of the fridge that shows the inside temp. I don’t think it’s super accurate but at least it shows you it’s working to keep your provisions cold.
What model truck fridge do you have? I'm wondering how well a dometic cover will fit on the corresponding size truck fridge. I have the TB51A. Thanks!
