I'm looking for a truck to haul my 8ft. Alaskan and I'm seeing a lot of flat bed truck for sale that is either a 3/4 ton or 1 ton, which is what I'm looking for. Are there any disadvantages to a flat bed? Anything to be concerned about? Are they more sturdy that a regular truck bed? Thanks for the help!

Joe, assuming they’re well made, flatbeds work just fine. There are several threads with good photos in the Alaskan forum.

I have three super dutys, two with beds, one without. If i keep my dually it to will have a flatbed. As will all the trucks i buy going forward.

Easier to load, work out of, off of. And i love the extra room my camper has. This being said, a flatbed with a regular truck camper has tons of room down the sides.

My two cents.
