Nice trip Al.Thanks for taking the time to post your pictures.
In 2012 on our trip to your area we enjoyed the small road traveling.
Saw a lot of great places,and stayed near the head waters of the Mississippi.
Those huge rivers have to start somewhere so it's interesting to see them as small streams or springs.

A fine trip! We loved the scenic views and the history. The Colorado River as a small mountain stream was a delight. You made us yearn to return to the Black Hills and Wind Cave, Thanks for sharing your adventure!

Friends of mine were there in early August and they seen a lot of moose.
I've read that the moose are really thriving on the west side of RMNP. The willow thickets and meadows along the Colorado River are great habitat for them. We saw quite a few along there on two trips this summer. Lots of elk too.
