This is my third and favorite! Camper van conversion. The smaller wheel based van is an amazing platform that not only fits everywhere but gets AWESOME MPG and isn’t a pain to drive in traffic. The 136 wheel base actually fits in Bay Area parking spaces!!! It also blends in / is rather stealthy since it’s not as large as other vans. It’s even short enough to avoid the 23’ or greater parking bans some cities / municipalities are putting up. The front wheel drive will undoubtedly do better than other rear wheel drive vans (sprinter/transit) in the snow/off road. All this paired with the comfortable and techy cabin in a van that is actually fun to drive.

The camper conversion:

As mentioned before this is the third conversion I have completed and I can provide contact info for the owners of the two previous vans for recommendations/reviews if desired.

Walls and ceiling - are blue stained/beetle wood tongue and groove pine. This wood provides a unique look with a natural stain/design. This allows for a great look without the need to stain the wood (since off gassing is a concern in such a small space).  The whole van is insulated with Thinsulate insulation to provide thermal insulation in both cold and hot climates. I also used 1 inch poly foam (in crucial places ie. Sleeping area / floor) to help bolster the ability to retain block out/heat.

Skylight / Fan – The skylight is a Arctic Tern with electric motor and LED’s. It includes a sliding screen and blackout/thermal shade. The top opens a full 90 degrees and provides great light / views as well as ventilation. Above the bed is a MaxxAir fan that provides forced ventilation and can remain open regardless of the weather.

Floor- 1 in poly foam board w/ 5/8” plywood topped with one continuous sheet of lined linoleum sheeting and sealed on the edges. This prevents any spills from going too far.

Bed – The platform bed is a standard full sized bed with a 6 inch memory foam mattress (VERY comfortable). The platform is built of birch to prevent sagging over time.

Cabinets / Counter – Cabinets are custom made to fit the van all drawers are soft close and have magnetic latches to keep them closed while driving. The sink is a highquality stainless steel bar sink with a strainer and drying rack. Faucet swivels flush against the wall to provide more space when not in use. The counter is solid butcher block treated with a natural mineral oil (again no off-gassing issues).

Refrigerator / Freezer – Dometic CFX 40 in custom built cabinet / seat (fits 60 cans) with wifi / phone connectivity. https://shop.dometic...ctID.5178067700

Gear storage / garage – Under the bed is a storage area approximately 40” H x 60” This area will house a ton of gear. It is currently home to 2 full sized mountain bikes, climbing gear, camping gear, etc. There is also a outdoor shower and this area is lit for those early morning / late night starts and returns.

Electrical – DC power is provided by solar and the vans high output alternator this function is mindless and hands off as it is controlled by a smart relay that automatically connects and disconnects. The 200 w of solar on the roof provide power to the smart MPPT Solar controller (with Bluetooth) all this power is then stored in 2 Renogy Gel batteries 200 amp hours. The entire process can be monitored on your smartphone or tablet so you can monitor usage etc.

A/C power is provided by a 2000w/4000w pure sine wave inverter. These are the more expensive but safe for expensive electronics inverters.

Lighting – provided by recessed LED lights in the ceiling / over counter. Paired with a touch panel dimmer switch. I also retained the factory lighting that automatically comes on / off when the doors open / close.

Water – 16 gallons of fresh water storage and 7 of gray. Both are easy to fill and empty. There is also an outdoor shower / rinse station plumbed into the storage area.
