Just returned from Sonora to Tom’s Place. After ~60 years ... really enjoying FWC heat for the last 2. My Grandfather, my Dad, myself, my sons. Memories of trout at camp, baloney, mustard & american cheese sandwiches in the boat, or on the trail, Schat’s Sheepherder’s bread. Eating dinner by Coleman light & the Moon. Both my boys can dance a Fly around me. My wife loves high Alpine meadows so I am lucky. I don’t blog, so I apologize for the few posts needed to include some pics. Had to leave a bit early as we got word my Mother’s power was set to go off. The smoke was bad coming home over Tioga Pass with the Merced 140 Fire. It was not clear until the approach to Groveland. Upper 108 still trying to recover from past devastation. Some higher spots already shut down, but some areas should hold for 2 weeks? Never considered “The Color”, it was just part of a Fall trip ... fishing, family & fun.

How was the fishing? I consider color a bonus but I don't need an excuse to head down 395 :)

We celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary a couple weeks ago. I thought I would give her a break, I left my fish gear behind. As luck would have it, IMO, one of the best paid sites in the E Sierra was available in Rock Creek Canyon for the night. As we took a walk downstream looking for some kindling, there were 1-3 trout in each of the 2 little holes I check out. There were even a couple, 1 up & 1 downstream, right at camp. She says “get out your pole let’s fry up a couple”. Incredulous, as I tell her, she then believes I must really Love her ... :)

Wonderful, absolutely wonderful! You returned because your Mother's power was being shut off and we left home because our power was shut off. Thanks for sharing your multi-generational trip! :)
