Wow, that makes it all the more ironic, and understandably for you, more annoying. With the prohibition of other roadside service providers within the sponsorship agreement, AutoClub would be well advised to make sure its own services are readily available. Somebody dropped the ball!

I've has 3 AAA for years and have used it several times with no problems and good results; however everything was on paved roads. The thing about not being able to use on dirt/gravel roads has always been a bummer, but I guess that's why we always need to carry all that tire repair gear and jacks for just those cases. I know I should not do it but I carry a bottle or two of that liquid seal that ruins your tires but ya never know now especially as I get older and more lazier that I may use it anyway <_< .

Thinking about getting a AAA membership as we are planning a long road trip this fall. Noticed that RV coverage is extra. I have a FWC Hawk installed on a Chevy 2500HD. Sounds like that is considered an RV as far as AAA is concerned. Is that correct?

I was told by an AAA contractor and my agent that any cabover camper is considered an RV.

Just a thought if you want to spend the money and get off road help any time any where. When I upgraded from my old SPOT to SPOT X awhile back I went all in and got their rescue package with texting-meaning I have the "come and get me anywhere package"-not just the standard"SOS" one.I think it costs me about $300.00 a year or so, it is part of their world wide explorers club package.  A few years ago I would have never done this, but even changing a tire in my old age is getting harder for me and even though I still carry all the "get unstuck" gear that I used too -for that one getting real stuck time  , or have vehicle problems and blow a head gasket or something, now as long as  can see the sky,  I can push the magic button and some one will come and get me.  And do you know what.....that is a very comforting thought as me and my trusty dog-Timber, WTW :D!

Discovered that my T-Mobile account entitles me to a free year of basic membership. Signed up and upgraded to the Premier with RV coverage.

Tossing a bit more out for consideration… The Family Motor Coach Assoc (FMCA) has changed and is now accepting any type of RV.  I have many friends in the motorhome community who speak exceedingly high about the organization.  My only personal experience with them was as an observer.  While boating Lake Powell, one of the party developed sepsis and was close to death.  FMCA covered the helicopter medevac, transported the spouse to the hospital in Flagstaff, and had the coach and boat delivered to their home in San Diego.

I suspect their fees are competitive with USAA & Good Sam, but due diligence would be in order.
