If you have Amazon Prime, check out “Quest for the Bay”, an 1840s period adventure that traces the journeys of the fur trade in 40’ York boats.  This particular journey is trying to stay period as much as possible as they row and sail from Winnipeg to Hudson Bay.

it’s worth watching.

+1 on Quest for the Bay.

My wife and I happened onto it soon after starting our Prime membership.  That also led to our watching "Quest for the Sea" and "Klondike: The Quest for Gold", all by the same producer- Jamie Brown.

And I just found he did an earlier one ... "Pioneer Quest: A Year in the Real West"  In this case 'the Real West' refers to the Canadian prairie.   That one appears to also be available right now on YouTube but that could change.  It appears YouTube may be in the process of setting that one up for paid viewing.  I was able to start the individual episodes numbered 101, 102...107 but I see YouTube also has a link to a Season 1 of the show and that appears to require payment (I didn't try it).

Also- Here's an article by 'Quest for the Bay' participant RoseAnna Schick... My Quest for the Bay
