Not a lot of detail in the article, but based on time of day and what was said about conditions, a probable scenario comes to mind.
A sad turn of events when on vacation.
Condolences to the family. And, also remember the responders. These are incidents you will not forget.

People often forget to think of the impact of accidents and violence on the people who respond to these emergencies. My sister is a Paramedic instructor, and our our oldest daughter is a Firefighter, and they have seen some incidents that have left lasting sad memories.
