Hey MBC - Just wondering if you had to replace the wheel and if you had to replace all of your tires while on your trip, as I know sometimes the wear on a spare is just enough different to upset the apple cart, so to speak. Assuming the other 3 tires have the same age/wear issues??

Hey Craggy - The other 3 tires are a little newer than the blowout, but they are still old in calendar time if not use.  The blowout was the tire that replaced the sidewall-cut tire 6 years ago (see my post above) ... and the other 3 tires were replaced later.

I drove home on the spare -- seemed fine.  There were no weird vibrations or pulling or anything like that -- despite the non-matching set.

I plan to get a set of 4 new tires before I go anywhere else in the truck, probably another round of BFGoodrich T/A KO2 (unless someone can convince me that something else is a better choice).

The wheel that held the blowout looked OK...but I didn't examine it real closely. I figure the tire sellers will tell me if they think they can't legitimately use it.
