I have been in that area blinded by dust storms, splattered by mud storms (rain falling through the dust storms) and ice storms, but have never encountered a swarm of tumbleweeds blocking the road. Will Durant said: "Civilization exists by nature's consent, subject to change without notice."

We drove a gravel road down into Prosser, Washington and encountered rogue tumbleweeds last October. I was so bewildered that I failed to take photos. It was a winding steep gravel road where the tumbleweeds rolled down the steep hills.

Were you coming down off the Horse Heaven Hills? You may have passed through Bickleton, the Bluebird capitol of the world -- or so they say.

Sounds like one of the hapless events that perpetually befall Wile E. Coyote.

I would run over tumbleweeds left and right when I was commuting along HWY 97 between Ellensburg and Yakima. I wouldn't try that with a wall of tumbleweeds.

Reminds me of that beginning part of that great old classic "Them (the giant radio active ants)"-ya know where they come upon that wrecked trailer out in the desert and the bent 30-30 rifle with all those tumble weeds blowing around and that weird music. Hey RONR-better not go to Mexico by way of Death Valley and the California Desert-never know, maybe they didn't kill all those ants and some are just waiting for someone to park their camper next to one of their giant ant hills !
