I have a Swift camper model and while the fantastic fan is nice there were some midsummer days I chose not to camp here in the deep South. Our missions are never more than 2 nights and a cooler sitting outside is always enough for our purposes. Is it possible to remove the fridge and put an AC in its place? The Honda 2000 is no problem to bring along. Do the window units actually have to be hanging out like an an apartment or can they be contained? Some of the small travel trailers have a window AC with the back end flush with the exterior. The face of the AC would sit flush with the cabinet and would make a drip tray of some sort under it that drains down. Would obviously run the fridge circulation fan and make a cabinet above the AC to fill the extra space. Would this work?

I think it sounds like a great idea, especially if you are good at fabricating the AC into the fridge's place.  Since the fridge already has a vent to the outside, it seems like you could take advantage of that.  There are a few on here that use freestanding AC units and then vent the unit out through the turnbuckle door.  We were just inquiring of 4WC about adding AC to our unit.  Sounds like it is "possible" but there is a lot of work and costs associated with having them do the work.  We miss not having AC more then we thought.  Wish you the best.

SO much easier to just do one of the numerous "out the window" mods that have been documented on this website for nigh a decade.

You get to keep your fridge, then only haul a A/C unit around when you need it. A few minutes (if that) to set it up. If you don't have an arctic pack, get one. Makes a huge difference.

Google FWC and air conditioner and you'll get some ideas. Stan Kennedy also has an archive of what other FWC customers have done.

That is all.
