I've been using the speaker stand mod a couple years now, & everything still works fine. I store the it on the floor just inside the door.
Had to order a new (detachable) handle. I let the lift fall to the ground outside for the night, it hit the ground just right/wrong, & broke. I was able to jury rig the pieces into something that worked (which is now a spare). It took months to get a replacement due to COVID supply chain problems.
Be gentle with it & you're golden.
