Very good story in the Idaho paper.Last year around the end of June we parked in the large trail head parking lot where the Wapiti lake trail head and other trails start.This area gets a lot of day use as it's close to the falls and some small lakes.At the time the trail was closed due to bears in the area.This is an area in the spring that has a lot of early bear activity.No mention if the hikers were in a closed area,hope not.Camp safe.
