Just wondering if anyone else has had the same issue. The compressor is running, but the unit will not get cold. I have tried both 12V and 110V with the same result. I heard if you turn it over on its lid for a few hours, then back, it sometimes corrects the problem....try this today.

Not looking forward to dropping $900 on another one:(

If you try the turn over technique, don't turn it ON until it has been upright for several hours, maybe half a day.

With other compressor fridges not getting cold, in my experience is that it needs servicing, to do a recharge and then to see if there is a leak anywhere. Some of the units I've owned just need the recharge, some we found a leak and fixed it then another recharge.

My refrigeration guy works at a ocean marine repair store, so that saves me from having to send any unit back to an authorized repair facility (saving me about $100 round trip in shipping charges), provided it's not under warranty.

Ya, I placed it on its lid last night and turned it over this morning. I will see if it gets cold tonight after work. If it still wont get cold, I will try to find someone local who might know these fridges.

Call Cait @ Engel USA explain the problem and ask for the nearest service center.

Called Engel. A tech is going to call me to help troubleshoot it..

Unfortunately, I do not know how old the fridge is, the PO bought it. So warranty is out of the question..

Well,
I tried the turning it upside down, with no luck. It won't cool.i guess the final step is to see if some local fridge repair guy can do something. It's going to hurt shelling out the $$$ for a new unit, but now I'm spoiled. It's been nice having the Engel on board.

As an Engel dealer I offer significant savings for WTW members. I'd be happy to give you a price in the unit you want.

Hey Jay thanks,

Can you PM a price on a MT45? I tried the "turn it over on its lid for a night" No luck, still wont get cold. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Engel tech. Either way, I hear replacement compressors for that thing are $$$$. Might as well get a new one:(

Am I misunderstanding something? I thought the whole point to turning a fridge upside down was to remove air bubbles from the ammonia. But the Engel is uses a compressor. Why would turning it over help?
