This was mentioned on another forum and I got to looking around. I do like finely built items and you can spend much time looking around their website -

Did you check the price tag? Over $100,000 as I recall.

Bob Bowlus was one of my chemistry professors. His uncle was Hawley Bowlus (the designer), and Bob worked for him in the factory. I had no idea there was a connection until reading an article in the Airstream magazine. It had a photo of Bob and Hawley together.

Pretty cool connection there Mr. Sage! Yes, we noticed the price tag. We need to put more dimes in our jar. :)

Maybe your connection will get you a discount!

Frank, I don't want one. As interesting as they are, I think they are butt ugly. I'll stay with what I have.

Google Hawley, he was a pretty talented person.

It's raining, windy, and we're expecting freezing weather, so editing photos and watching the boob tube. American Pickers just had an original, restorable Bowlus Road Chief on the show. The owner wanted $75,000 for it, or in other words... he didn't want to sell. Interesting.

I saw recently that the oldest (?) known Airstream, a 1935 Airstream Torpedo, built from plans will be coming up for sale. It's apparently been in the same family since built, has hit all of the lower '48 states, been coast to coast multiple times, and is a bit of a legend in the Airstream community. Because of its heritage, I suspect it will command quite a price.

Here's an article about the trailer.
