I just bought a 2005 FWC Hawk this week. It is in amazing condition!!! It has a 3-way fridge, but no furnace. I've read and contemplated the Wave 3 option (still considering it), but I noticed the cabinet door next to the fridge seams to be already sized for a furnace. I researched FWC and found that they install the Atwood 7912. I found a 7916 on Craigslist for 1/2 price of a new one (same frame size, but 16K BTU instead of 12K). The seller hooked up power & propane to prove that it works before I bought it.
I am confident in my ability to install it, I am a Journeyman Electrician specializing in HVAC and refrigeration. I'm not really concerned about tying into existing propane line and wiring the fan & thermostat. I'm more concerned with cabinet fit, cutting holes for more airflow and especially cutting outside access for exhaust. I will share pictures of the experience along the way, but I would greatly appreciate anyone's advice & precautions before starting. Also, does anyone have a factory installed furnace on a Hawk or any other FWC that could post pictures here? I'm looking for fit (next to fridge or icebox and other cabinet doors). If you could just take the cover off the front and snap a quick pic I'd appreciate it!
Thanks
