This morning, as I was listening to NPR, and mustering the energy to get out of bed and face another rainy Oregon day, there was an interview with a TED speaker who traveled by foot for 22 years, and who also did not speak for 17 years. As the dust settled in the memory archives, I thought of a fellow that I went to college with that also didn't speak. When they mentioned his name, it turned out to be the very same John Francis that I knew at SOSC. John went on to earn a Ph.D, and become a noted environmentalist. Whoda thunkit.
