I've been thinking about a compressor fridge/cooler for a while and just saw the Dometic cf-18 today.  Does anyone have any experience with this or a similar Dometic/Waeco model?

Hard to go wrong with a Danfoss BD35F compressor.

I've owned several fridge/freezers with that compressor.

Low amperage usage and solid construction is what I've experienced.

However, just make sure you know what the return policy is.

I had recently purchased a TruckFridge TF51 and the Danfoss BD35F compressor gurgled, which no compressor fridge should do, and TruckFridge agreed that it was not supposed to gurgle. That was my only disappointment I've ever experienced with a BD35F.

Truck Fridge refunded the cost of the TF51 and the original shipping costs to me, however, I had to pay for the return shipping to them (an OK compromise),

We've got the Dometic CF-50. No problems so far (3 years) with light use- meaning no major off-roading or washboard vibration. It's quiet, efficient and keeps the food cold.

Thanks for the info, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these.

We use the "Truckfridge" brand of cooler TF 45.

It works great has the same specks as the Dometic CF 50.

I keep it in the gutted rear seat area of the Tundra, and ran a plug in from the camper battery.

It will run for days ,and the solar keeps the battery up.

Ski3pin has one also and he gets a lot of use from his and doesn't seem to have had any problems.

They are quiet.

I have two of the Dometic units trouble free and work great. Highly recommend - pricey through.

I bought the Dometic cf-18 and installed a solar panel and battery system to run it.  It's been up and running now for 4 days and seems to work great.
