Wander the West: Rewards

We will be having a drawing every month for items like Partner stoves and Leathermans. To be eligible for the drawing, you must have attained the status of "Contributing Member". This is an overview of the new WTW content areas and contributing member program. Note that contributing members also get a free WTW Tshirt.

The Wander the West website has new sections "National Parks" and "Geographic Areas" - which consists primarily of two data types: spots and areas.

Areas
Spots are organized into areas. An area is any geographic feature that binds spots together like national parks, BLM management areas, mountain ranges, or preserves. Example areas:

Death Valley, Black Rock Desert, Yosemite National Park

Spots
A spot is any particular point of interest, campground, historical spot, viewpoint, or anything else worth knowing about. Spots are located by gps coordinates. Here are a few examples of fully developed spots:

The Racetrack, Angel's Landing Trail, Gold Bluffs Beach, Soldier Meadows Hot Springs

Spot pages allow users to add them as favorites, upload photos, or report errors or updates with the errors & updates tab.

How to Become a Contributing Member
To become a contributing member, you need to add at least 12 contributions to the new spots database. These contributions are any of the things listed above (comments, photos etc - some literally take a few seconds). However, to ensure that everyone doesnt just add a bunch of favorites, the contributions are broken down into the following minimum amounts:

3 favorites
3 comments
3 photos

Once you have made your 12 contributions to the spots page, send a message to DirtyDog (administrator) and let him know you have completed the contributor program and you would like your shirt.

Earning points and entering drawings
Points are earned by making contributions to spot-related items (see schedule below). Points can then be spent to enter each months drawings (10 points per entry). Points will now be calculated every night at midnight EST. You can check your current point total by going to your profile and at the bottom left, in the WTW Contributor Rewards block, click "view log".

Point values per contribution
Add an image to an area gallery AND associate it with a spot: 3 points

Add an image to a state or area sub gallery but not associate it with a spot: 2 points

Comment on a spot: 2 points

Comment on a photo in the gallery: 1 point

Admin awarded points:
Photo promoted to featured spot photo: 5 points

Photo promoted to area featured photo: 10 points
