Getting There

The Lodgepole Visitor Center is located on Lodgepole Road, just off the Generals Highway 21 miles (34km) from the Sequoia Park entrance on Highway 198, 2 miles (3km) north of the General Sherman Tree. In the conifer zone; elevation 6700 feet (2040m).

This is the hub of Sequoia back country. There is the permit office, a great store, laundry mat, showers, restaurant and overflow bear boxes for things you need to leave behind. It is designed with the back country traveler in mind and is the best designed launch point in the Sierras.
