I used to lead Mountaineering trips here a long time ago and it is truly a great area. The first day over cajoun gap is brutal so be prepared for a long uphill schlog. After that you are in a gateway to some amazing country. You can stay at twin lakes with toilets and bear boxes or go cross country over the pass by twin peaks and out into the endless granite. Or you go cross country to little lakes, summit Mt. Silliman, do some alpine climbing and come cross country back to lodgepole.

On trail or off trail this place is a paradise but watch out for the skeeters in early summer!
