Getting There

The trailhead is located 3 miles west of Kelbaker Road on the well-graded, but unpaved Kelso Dunes Road.

  • This is a great hike to the top of the dunes where the views are spectacular. It appeared that at least several campers were setup at points along the road that fronts the dune and I think this would be a good area to camp.

  • You can see a faint trail straight up the face of the largest dune. Most people took that route, but it is very steep near th summit. We observed people getting to the summit faster and easier by cutting over to the ridge on the right and then following that up.
